ABOUT THE OWLS
- The Owls welcome back four players amongst the 15-man unit. Of the 11 newcomers, eight are transfers and three are freshmen.
- The team's top returnee is Kanaan Carlyle, recently named to the American Preseason All-Conference First Team. At 14.3 points per game a year ago, he is the second-leading scorer among all returning league players.
- Also bestowed a league honor was incoming guard Felipe Quinones, voted American Preseason Freshman of the Year. He is the second Owl in as many years to earn this award.
- Quinones, a consensus four-star recruit out of Christopher Columbus High School in Miami, joins a loaded backcourt that also includes transfers Braeden Speed (62 starts in 63 games in two years) and Jelani Hamilton (47 starts in 60 games in two years).
- Collegiate on-court experience also comes to the team courtesy of guard Milhan Charles (30 games/30 starts as a freshman), forward Josh Harris (30 games/30 starts two years ago in his first season) and forward Mason Porter-Brown (over 20 minutes a game in 35 games last season).
- The Owls have three 7-footers patrolling the paint in sophomores Fawaz "Tacko" Ifaola and Kieran Mullen, as well as freshman David Musis. In an informal DI communications poll, only seven teams have reported such a trio: FAU, Arizona State, DePaul, Duke, Hofstra, Indiana and North Carolina.
- Head Coach John Jakus enters his third year atop the program. He is the first coach in school history to win 18+ games in his first two seasons at the helm.
ABOUT THE SEAHAWKS
- Keiser, located just up the road in West Palm Beach, is No. 11 nationally in the preseason NAIA rankings and was voted first in the Sun Conference Preseason Men's Coaches' Poll.
- The Seahawks were 25-6 a year ago, winning the Sun Conference regular season title for the second consecutive year, and advancing to the team's third straight NAIA National Championship.
- Returners Nadir Myers and Jackson Slater were both named to the Sun's All-Conference Second Team last year, while Head Coach Marcus "Chief" Bryant was voted Rollie Massimino Sun Conference Coach of the Year for the second year in a row.
- In six seasons, Bryant is 118-61 with four National Tournament appearances.
