BOCA RATON, Fla. – National recognition continues to pour in for Caden Veltkamp of the Florida Atlantic football team. On Monday afternoon, the Davey O'Brien Award announced the graduate QB was selected to the Davey O'Brien Great 8.
The weekly honor goes to the top eight quarterback performances, with one being named the National QB of the Week on Tuesday.
Veltkamp warrants consideration following his performance in the Owls' 38-30 victory over RV Navy. A 76-yard touchdown pass on the second play from scrimmage set the town for a night in which he completed 27 of his 32 passing attempts and finished with 386 yards while tying his single-game program record of five touchdowns. His 84% completion percentage is second most in a game in school history.
With the Great 8 selection, Veltkamp is also officially added to the yearly award's midseason watch list.
