David Smolka joined the Florida Atlantic athletics staff in August 2024 as a communications assistant. He oversees communication efforts for the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams and assists with several other sports as well as historical projects.
Smolka began his career in collegiate athletics in December 2020 as a part of the FAU stats crew for men’s and women’s basketball. In September of 2021, he added stating football to his game staff resume.
He is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree in professional studies from Florida Atlantic.
Born and raised in Boca Raton, Florida, Smolka is the son of Florida Atlantic’s Head Cross Country/Track & Field coach Alex Smolka, who joined Paradise in November of 1991 and has been with FAU ever since.
