Communications & Media Relations
The athletic communications internship provides a unique opportunity to gain media relations experience within a Division I collegiate athletic department. Interns will have the opportunity to have their work published on FAUsports.com. The Media Relations Department is seeking hard-working, creative individuals interested in pursuing a career in communications. Qualified applicants may have or be pursuing a degree in communications, public relations, sport administration, journalism, multimedia studies or other related fields.
Responsibilities:
- Attending and working home games
- Assisting with communication facets of all sports
- Updating and maintaining web content on FAUsports.com
- Serving as the media liaison for assigned sport programs
- Compiling and updating statistics
- Assisting with the production of videos and graphics
- Writing and distributing press-releases
- Other duties assigned
Preferred Skills:
- Professional experience in communications, public relations, journalism or sport administration
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Adobe Photoshop, InDesign
- Working knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations
- Premier editing (Video Interns)
Event & Facility Management
The Event Management and Facilities Internship provides the unique opportunity to gain a hands on experience from behind the scenes of all Florida Atlantic athletic events. Interns will gain event operations experience, assist in the execution of all gameday tasks as well as maintaining all athletic facilities on campus. The Event Management and Facilities Department is seeking hard-working, dedicated individuals interested in pursuing a career in event management, operations management, facilities management. Qualified applicants may have or be pursuing a degree in event, facilities or operations management, or other related fields.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with home event management of assigned sports
- Facility set-up and breakdown for home events
- Greeting and hosting visiting teams and officials
- Scheduling sport program practice times
- Processing and managing facility rental contracts
- Reporting and tracking facility maintenance issues
Preferred Skills:
- Previous professional event management and/or facilities management skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Microsoft Word and Excel
- Working knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations
Equipment Operations
The Equipment Internship provides the unique opportunity to gain hands on experience from behind the scenes with Florida Atlantic football. Interns will gain valuable experience working side by side with the FAU equipment staff. They will assist in the setup and breakdown of practice and setup of locker rooms on gameday, perform various gameday duties as well as learn how to maintain equipment and inventory. The Equipment Department is seeking hard-working, dedicated individuals interested in pursuing a career in the field. This position reports to the Head Football Equipment Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Practice setup and break down on a daily basis
- Process laundry daily
- Learn how to properly fit and maintain equipment such as helmets and shoulder pads
- Properly maintain an accurate inventory on a daily basis
- Help with locker room setup for all home games
- Perform gameday duties that will be specified by the head football manager
- Equipment maintenance and cleaning
- Ensure proper storage of equipment
Preferred Skills:
- Energetic and motivated self-starter with strong organizational skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to work as an integral part of a team
Marketing, Promotions & Social Media
The Florida Atlantic Athletic Marketing Team consists of a group of hard-working, fun-loving, dynamic individuals at the heart of Florida Atlantic Athletics' marketing strategy and goal. As a part of the Athletic Marketing Team, students will have the opportunity to assist with the creation and execution of the departments marketing strategy. The FAU Marketing Team is seeking passionate individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in sports management or marketing for gameday and office interns. Qualified applicants may have or be pursuing a degree in sport administration, marketing, business administration or other related fields.
Gameday Intern Responsibilities:
- Attending and working home athletic events
- Assisting with the creation and implementation of gameday promotions and in-game sponsorship elements to enhance the gameday atmosphere and overall fan experience
- Providing exceptional customer service to all fans, managing fan zone areas, organizing giveaways and assisting with the set-up/break-down of areas
- Conducting research to be implemented into future marketing plans
- Participate in grassroots marketing campaigns to engage students and create FAU Athletic brand awareness throughout campus and the surrounding communities
- Assisting the department with community outreach events alongside athletic department employees, student-athletes and members of the surrounding communities
- Distributing collateral materials
- Other duties assigned
Office Intern Responsibilities:
- Assisting with the implementation of the annual marketing plans for assigned sports with a focus on increasing attendance and game atmosphere/fan experience in order to generate revenue
- Conducting research to be implemented into future marketing plans
- Assisting the department with community outreach events alongside athletic department employees, student-athletes and members of the surrounding communities
- Participate in grassroots marketing campaigns to engage students and create FAU Athletic brand awareness throughout campus and surrounding communities
- Other duties assigned
Street Team Responsibilities:
- Attending and working home athletic events, campus events and community events
- Assisting with the creation and implementation of gameday and game-week promotions
- Executing grassroots marketing promotions throughout south Florida
- Participating in grassroots marketing campaigns to engage students and create FAU Athletics brand awareness throughout campus and surrounding communities
- Assisting the department with community outreach events alongside athletics department employees, student-athletes and members of the surrounding communities
- Seek out fan interaction and provide memorable experiences for all fans
- Other duties assigned
Social Media Team Member Responsibilities:
- Researching sports video trends on a collegiate, professional, and international scale
- Filming and editing footage at various FAU athletics events
- Editing videos for athletics marketing
- Setting up and breaking down equipment for shoots
- Meeting deadlines in all parts of production
- Assisting in developing strategies to grow audience and viewer interactions
- Organizing, tagging, and archiving footage
- Social Media Team Member Responsibilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; attention to detail is essential
- Experience in athletic department environment
- Proficiency with social media platforms and add-ons
- Professional, results-oriented self-starter who takes initiative to solve problems
- Ability to work independently and in group settings with a positive demeanor
- Creative and determined worker that is proactive in pitching and seeing ideas through completion
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple responsibilities
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Knowledge in Adobe Photoshop
Social Media Team Member Responsibilities:
- Assisting with the creative content development of all sports
- Developing graphics, templates and infographics for use on social media
- Designing items for print including signage, magazine covers and flyers
- Creating print and web advertisements
- Assisting with and ensuring brand consistency throughout all visual elements
- Working with other departments within athletics to ensure creative executions are brand consistent
- Brainstorming other creative ways to display content and information visually
- Other duties as assigned
Preferred Skills:
- Professional experience in marketing, advertising or sport administration fields
- Previous experience working with a marketing street team or promotions staff
- Microsoft Office, Word, Excel
- Adobe Photoshop, In Design, Illustrator experience

Ticket Operations
The Ticket Operations Department internship provides the opportunity to gain experience in a Division I intercollegiate athletic program, assisting with all of the ticket operations functions for the eight ticketed sports. The Ticket Operations Department is seeking hard-working, detail oriented individuals interested in pursuing a career in ticket operations. Qualified applicants may have or be pursuing a degree in business administration, sport administration or other related fields.
Responsibilities:
- Attending and working home games for 8 ticketed sport programs
- Assisting with all Box Office functions
- Working with the Marketing and Facilities Departments
- Maintaining Ticketmaster database
- Processing ticket orders
- Assisting with the creation of analytical reports
- Assisting with the creation of ticket sales campaigns to promote FAU Athletics
- Providing exceptional customer service
Preferred Skills:
- Previous ticket operations and/or collegiate athletics experience
- Working knowledge and understanding of Ticketmaster Architics and/or Ticketmaster Host
- Previous customer service experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Microsoft Word and Excel
