At Coastal Carolina

Served the 2024 season as an analyst for a defense that placed five defenders on the Sun Belt All-Conference squad, three were named to the first team, and two earned honorable mention honors

At Mississippi State

Elevated in 2023 to the Bulldogs safeties coach
In 2022, served as a defensive analyst, primarily focusing on the safeties position group

At Texas State

Worked with the Bobcat defensive backs from 2019-21
Dewhurst’s 2020 unit accounted for 11 turnovers with seven interceptions, four fumble recoveries, and three forced fumbles. Cornerback Jarron Morris was a Second-Team All-Sun Belt Conference selection after he led Texas State with 69 tackles, led the league with four interceptions, recovered a fumble, and had 11 breakups. In addition, Morris tied school and Sun Belt Conference records when he returned an interception 100 yards for a touchdown at ULM
In his first season at Texas State (2019), helped the Bobcats rank among the nation’s top 25 passing defenses. Morris and Khambrail Winters earned Honorable Mention All-Sun Belt Conference honors. Morris led the Bobcats with two interceptions, broke up seven passes, forced a fumble, and recorded 63 tackles and 3.0 tackles for loss. Winters recorded 52 tackles and broke up four passes in his nine starts

At Texas Tech

Served as the Red Raiders Safeties Coach (2018)
Under his tutelage, Ja’Shawn Johnson and Vaughnte Dorsey both earned Honorable Mention All-Big XII honors and ranked among the top five Red Raider tackling leaders
Johnson recorded 60 tackles, one interception, and two pass breakups, despite playing in nine games. Dorsey had 55 stops, 2.5 tackles for loss, an assist on a sack, and intercepted four passes. He also had two breakups and a forced fumble

At Southeast Louisiana

Served as the Lions’ defensive backs coach in 2017 where he helped guide the SLU to a No. 37 national FCS rank and fourth in the Southland Conference with 12 interceptions on the year
Also tutored one of the top FCS defensive backs in the country in Max Olson, who earned First-Team All-Southland honors after recording a team-leading 100 tackles, three interceptions, and seven pass breakups
Mayori Ellison garnered honorable mention accolades with 33 tackles, four interceptions, and nine pass breakups that year

At Texas Tech

Held the position of Quality Control, with a defensive back focus in 2015 and 2016
In his first season, Red Raiders played in the Texas Bowl

At Houston

Held the position of Quality Control, with a defensive back focus in 2013 and 2014
Worked with a squad that advanced to the 2014 BBVA Compass Bowl and the 2013 Armed Forces Bowl
Helped to establish one of the best defenses in the country
Houston led the FBS in both turnovers forced (43) and turnover margin (plus-25) during Dewhurst's first season in 2013
The Cougars were the third-most improved team nationally for scoring defense after allowing just 21.8 points per game

At Midwestern State

Began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Midwestern State in 2012
The Mustangs finished that season at 9-2 overall, won a Lone Star Conference Championship, and appeared in the NCAA Division II playoffs

Four-year defensive back at Texas Tech (2008-11), during one of the program’s most successful periods in school history
Played in four bowl games during his career
Career featured 103 tackles, nine pass breakups and a forced fumble
