A comeback-winning quarterback and a volleyballer making her first starts of the season are FAU’s latest “Student-Athletes of the Week”
Graham Wilbert led the Owls to a comeback victory over Troy on Saturday, finding William Dukes for a 22-yard touchdown with 17 seconds remaining, his fourth touchdown pass of the night. Overall, the senior was 26-for-40 for 261 yards. His four touchdowns are the most in a game for an FAU quarterback since Rusty Smith on October 24, 2009 against Louisiana. Saturday also marked the fourth time this season he has surpassed 250 yards passing. For his efforts, the Valencia, Cal. native was named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week by CollegeSportsMadness.com.
Freshman Jennifer St. Sume played well in her first two collegiate starts over the last weekend. She had a career-high nine kills in Friday's match vs. Middle Tennessee. In Saturday's match against #19 Western Kentucky, the native of Port St. Lucie, Fla., hit a career best .778. For the week, she had 16 kills and hit .542 in those two matches.
