Making a trip to Arkansas this weekend, Florida Atlantic University's volleyball team will face UALR and Arkansas State on Friday and Saturday in Sun Belt Conference action. The matches will be the last for the Owls against a western division team in conference play.
FAU (7-13, 4-6 SBC) looks to end a five-game skid against UALR (11-15,4-5 SBC) on Friday. The Owls' top offensive threat, Iana Andonova did not play last weekend due to injury. The senior averages 4.27 kills per game. Justine Petry carries a .324 hitting percentage with 64 blocks (1.05 blocks/game).
UALR's defensive play is led by Ana Carolina Buccini. She ranks fifth in the nation with 6.47 digs per game for a team that ranks second in the league with 16.68 digs per game.
Two players carry over a .200 hitting percentage for the Trojans. Ivanka Davidova has a .299 hitting percentage with 3.46 kills per game followed by Amila Barakovic's .218 hitting percentage and 361 kills. Last weekend the team defeated South Alabama in five games and swept Troy .
Saturday's match against Arkansas State features a team on a three-match winning streak that stands at 15-10, 6-3 SBC. The last three wins have been sweeps of Central Arkansas, South Alabama and Troy.
The Lady Indian's hold a .196 team hitting percentage and are led by Beth Jones' .255 hitting percentage. Randilyne Volkmer carries a team-high 291 kills. Jones also leads the team with 1.03 blocks per game.
Five players carry the defense and have recorded over 100 digs. Erin Neeley leads the team with 294 digs.
