Volleyball Opens Home Schedule This Weekend

BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic volleyball team will open its home schedule this weekend when they host Sun Belt rivals Arkansas State and UALR.

The Owls went 1-3 over the weekend at the ASU Sheraton Invitational, losing to both UC-Riverside and Gonzaga in five sets and defeating Villanova in four sets. FAU also lost to Arizona State in straight sets. Freshman setter Jelena Jovanovic was named to the all-tournament team.

Owls Fall to Red Wolves in Three
The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team lost to Arkansas State 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-16) at FAU Arena on Sunday. Owl junior Thacilli Pereira led the club with eight kills on the day, while Georgia Robinson chipped in five of her own. Junior libero Cintia Nightingale finished with seven digs in the loss.

Volleyball Swept By UALR
The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team fell in straight sets (25-19, 25-19, 26-24) to UALR at the FAU Arena on Friday night.

Arkansas State (9-6) will also their open their conference season on Friday night. The Red Wolves are led by senior outside hitter Jasmine Terry who leads the team with 3.29 kills per set. Kelsey Sullivan is second on the team with 3.03 kills per set. Allison Kearney quarterbacks the ASU offense and is second in the conference with 10.98 assists per set.

On Sunday, UALR (4-8) comes to the Burrow. The Trojans are led by Preseason All-Sun Belt selection Edina Begic. Begic is a dual threat who leads the team in hitting percentage (.297), kills (5.17) and digs (3.14) per set. Her 5.17 kills per set are first in the Sun Belt.
