BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team will travel to the Bayou State as they start their second season in the Sun Belt Conference.
FAU face New Orleans in its Sun Belt opener on Friday. The Owls will be seeing action for the first time since splitting four matches at the UCF Invitational. FAU will open conference play at New Orleans on Friday night. The Privateers (6-7) feature a diverse offensive attack as Lindsey Boler, Dobrilla Kovacevic and Lauren Loeffelholz all average more than three kills a game. Justine Petry had 11 kills in a five-game home win for FAU in last year's only meeting of the two teams.
Louisiana-Lafayette awaits the Owls on Saturday afternoon in their second conference match. Freshman Amie Goodwin and Junior Elizabeth Inman pace the Ragin' Cajuns at more than three kills a game. Inman had 11 kills in a 3-0 sweep of the Owls last year. Louisiana-Lafayette will be seeking its first win since its season opener against Jackson State.
The Warhawks of Louisiana-Monroe will provide the final test of the weekend. ULM wants to avenge a 3-0 sweep by the Owls last season in Boca Raton. The weekend could also prove historic as Casey LaRocca is expected to pass Heather Chandler for second all time in career assists.
Friday's match against New Orleans is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Eastern.
