Volleyball on the Road for Third Straight Week

For the third-straight weekend, Florida Atlantic University's women's volleyball team will be on the road. The team will play three matches at the University of Iowa at the Hawkeye-Holiday Inn Challenge. On Friday night, FAU (0-6) will face Missouri-Kansas City before taking on Tulane and Iowa on Saturday.

FAU's Iana Andonova was named to the Colorado State Coors Invitational All-Tournament Team last weekend. The senior broke the FAU career kills record on her way to picking up 45 kills (5.00 kills/game), three service aces, 17 digs and three blocks. For the season she averages 5.22 kills per game to rank second in the Sun Belt Conference. Freshmen Lauren Ditscheit and Nikki Hartman lead the team defensively. Ditscheit has 10 blocks on the year, while Hartman has picked up 63 digs as the team's libero.

UMKC (0-7) is coming off a five-game loss to Northwestern State last weekend at Missouri State. The Kangaroos opened the season with a four-game loss to Atlantic Sun Conference member, Jacksonville.

Outside hitter Lauren Starks leads UMKC with 67 kills and 61 digs. Caitlin Koenig runs the offense and averages 6.36 assists per game. The meeting will be the first between the two teams.

Tulane opened the season last weekend at home and won the Trosclair Tournament with three victories. Sara Radosevic and Jenn Miller were named Conference USA Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week.

Radosevic claimed MVP honors at the tournament after she averaged 5.18 kills, 2.55 digs, 6.23 points and added nine service aces and four blocks. The Owls and Green Wave have never met.

Cahterine Smale leads the University of Iowa (5-1) with 76 kills (3.17 kills per game), while Jen Barcus follows with 74 kills and a .355 hitting percentage. As a team, the Hawkeyes are hitting .193 and average 1.42 service aces per game and 2.56 blocks per game. The team's only loss this season was against in-state rival Iowa State in five-games in Iowa City.
