BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic volleyball Head Coach Jody Brown has released the team's 2011 schedule.
"We have a really good nonconference schedule that will help us prepare for Sun Belt play. We are expecting to have a lot of success on the court both individually and collectively," said Brown.
The Owls will open the season in Greenville, NC at the East Carolina Classic on August 26-27. They will face Presbyterian and Gardner-Webb before facing the host Pirates. FAU will spend Labor Day Weekend at the Campus USA Credit Union Invite, hosted by the University of Florida. Clemson, 2010 NCAA Tournament team Florida and Jacksonville will be the opponents for the Owls.
Tulane will provide the opposition in FAU's home opener on September 8. The next day, FAU will be on Orlando for the Residence Inn/UCF Invitational where they will face Pittsburgh, UNC-Greensboro, USF and UCF.
FAU wraps up tournament play September 17-18 at the Bethune-Cookman Invitational. The Owls will play Stetson, Savannah State, Hampton and the host Wildcats over the course of the tournament.
Sun Belt play begins on September 23 when they travel to Denver to play the Pioneers. The following week, the Owls host 2010 NCAA Tournament teams Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky in their first two conference home matches. Rival FIU comes to the FAU Arena on October 7. The Owls will host Florida Gulf Coast University on November 1 in their final home match of the season. The 2011 Sun Belt Conference Tournament will be hosted by FIU from November 17-19.
