BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team recently took part in a field day for kindergarten and first grade students at A.D. Henderson Elementary School in honor of National Student-Athlete Day. Student-athletes from all of FAU's sports participated.
The students were separated into teams and led through different challenges by FAU's athletes. Events included jump rope, water balloon toss, hula hooping, football toss, frisbee and more. After the events, the athletes spoke to the students about the importance of getting a good education and staying active.
National Student-Athlete Day recognizes the accomplishments of student-athletes nationwide who excel in the classroom, on the playing fields, and in their communities. It was created by the National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS) and the Northeastern University Center for the Study of Sport in Society, with partnership from the NCAA and the National Federation of State High School Associations.
FAU and its student-athletes are dedicated to giving back and serving the community. For information about future events, please visit FAUsports.com.
