MURFREESBORO, TN- In a rematch of their meeting from six days earlier, the Florida Atlantic University volleyball team lost to North Texas in four sets (25-16, 20-25, 25-21, 25-18) on Thursday.
Similar to their meeting last Friday, the match was competitive throughout as it featured 19 ties and five lead changes. This time, however it was the Mean Green who were able to come away victorious.
The Owls struggled to keep up with the diverse Mean Green offense, as North Texas had five players record double-digit kills. Three FAU players had at least 10 kills, led by Liene Mellupe's match high 16. Jelena Jovanovic just missed a double-double with 48 assists and nine digs.
FAU ends its season with a 13-17 record, a six-win improvement over last season. The Owls also qualified for their conference tournament for the first time since 2006 and will lose only one senior, Darija Sataric.
