BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - (Nov. 9, 2017) Sydney Nemtuda’s 14 kills helped the Florida Atlantic University volleyball team sweep UAB (28-26, 25-14, 25-20) on Thursday night. FAU is now 17-8 on the year and 8-5 in C-USA play.  

 

Key Plays

FAU appeared to blow the first set open with a 6-2 run that made the score 15-11. The Blazers (11-18, 4-9) refused to yield and eventually rallied to tie the set at 25. The two teams exchanged points and the score was knotted again, this time at 26. At that point, Sigourney Kame and Jordan Yauch had back-to-back kills to give the Owls the set. Another big FAU scoring run in the second set gave the Owls a sizable advantage and they won the set going away, 25-14. An Alex Cardona serving run put FAU ahead 18-10 in the third frame. UAB pulled to within three at 23-20, but consecutive Kame kills completed the sweep for FAU.
