TROY, AL - The Florida Atlantic volleyball team fell to Troy (25-30, 23-30, 28-30) in three games on Saturday.
Troy (16-17, 7-10 SBC) rode the arm of Jean McCarthy to victory in game one. The Owls led by as many as three points, at 14-11, but the Trojans fought back and took a 19-18 lead on a Megan Henderson kill and never trailed from that point on. The Trojans outscored Florida Atlantic 11-7 in the remainder of the game to record the game one win.
Troy trailed being at 22-20 before they took control of the game. A pair of errors by the Owls led to senior Carla Rasuck recording back-to-back service aces to give the Trojans a 24-22 lead late in the game. The Trojans recorded nine consecutive points with Rasuck serving andnarrowly missed closing out the second game when an FAU attack went short. The Trojans closed out the match when Meghan Gilroy recorded a kill for the 30-23 victory in game two.
The third game of the match was similar to the first two as FAU got out to a 12-11 lead before Troy tied the match at 15. The Trojans went on a 10-5 run to take a 25-18 lead. FAU responded with a 10-4 run of its own, before a Katie Evanyo service error ended the match.
The Owls end their season with a record of 6-21 overall and 3-14 in the Sun Belt.
