In the second meeting of the season between Florida Atlantic University and Stetson University, the Owls came away with a 3-0 victory in the conference counter. FAU pulled out two extra point games to come away with the 31-29, 30-18, 31-29 victory in DeLand, FL. With the win the Owls improve to 12-13, 6-3 A-Sun, while the Hatters fall to 4-18, 2-7 A-Sun.
With an Atlantic Sun Tournament bid secured, FAU went into the match looking to improve its seeding at the tournament on November 21-22. The lethal attack of Iana Andonova (Margate, FL) finished with 17 kills and a .467 hitting percentage to guide FAU to a team hitting percentage of .268. Outside hitter Abby Miner (Largo, FL) collected 10 kills and added a match-high four service aces.
FAU trailed 27-29 in game three before the Owls went on a four-point run behind the serving of Jeana Boyle. Boyle also picked up the final two assists of the match when she connected with Cayse Kaveny and Abby Miner on the final two points.
Boyle (Boca Raton, FL) collected a double-double on the night with 38 assists and 12 digs for FAU, while her counterpart Tanner Kennedy connected with her hitters for 33 assists.
Kira Smedley led the Hatters with 19 kills and DeeAnn Dempsey picked up 11 digs.
Florida Atlantic will complete its Atlantic Sun season on Saturday as the team takes on Jacksonville University at 2 pm in Swisher Gymnasium.
