BOCA RATON , Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team kept its winning ways going with a sweep of Marshall (25-15, 25-20, 25-23) on Sunday. The Owls have now won four matches in a row and are 15-7 on the season and 6-4 in Conference USA play.
FAU steadily built a lead throughout the early portion of the first set and eventually pulled away late to take a 25-15 win. In the second stanza, the Thundering Herd (9-16, 4-6) was much more competitive from the start before an 8-2 FAU run helped create what proved to be an insurmountable margin. Marshall held a 10-8 lead in the third frame but FAU soon rallied to take the lead. The Owls led 24-20 late, but the Herd was able to fight off three match points before a service error ended the match.
- Sydney Nemtuda led all players with 18 kills, finishing one shy of her career high. She also added three total blocks.
- Abbi Reid posted 10 kills and two blocks.
- Alex Cardona tallied 14 digs to lead the Owls.
- Ivone Martinez dished out 43 assists and had 11 digs for her team best eighth double-double of the season.
