BOCA RATON, FL - Jennifer St. Sume hit a career high .778 (7-0-9) on Saturday, but it was not enough as the Florida Atlantic University volleyball team lost to #19 Western Kentucky (25-20, 25-12, 25-11).
Darija Sataric led the Owls (6-17, 1-11 Sun Belt) with 11 kills. Similar to the first meeting with the conference leading Hilltoppers (26-3, 12-0), FAU's errors were the main culprit in the defeat. The Owls committed 23 attack errors and six service errors in the loss.
Haley Bodway was the only WKU player with double-digit kills with 10.
Set number three was a tug of war in the early going, with the two sides trading points. The score was tied at 7-7 when MT went on a 5-0 run. The lead grew to as many as seven, before the Owls made a charge late in the set and were within one at 23-22, but back-to-back Blue Raider points ended any hopes of a rally.
Florida Atlantic will travel to Miami to take on rival FIU at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
