Florida Atlantic University used a 16-kill performance from Abby Miner and Iana Andonova to dispose of Mercer University in a four-game match Friday night in Macon, Georgia. With the win FAU improves to 8-11, 3-1 A-Sun while the Bears drop to 9-9, 1-2 A-Sun.
After falling behind 28-26 in game one FAU rallied back to score five of the next six points to take game one 31-29. The Owls took the momentum into game two to easily take a 2-0 lead behind a .356 hitting percentage in the game.
The Bears found their offense in the third game as they out hit FAU .483 to -.056 to move the match into a fourth game.
Abby Miner (Largo, FL) and Iana Andonova (Margate, FL) collected 16 kills a piece to lead the Owls to an easy fourth game victory. Lindsey Bell (Colorado Springs, FL) and Jessica Kahn (Apopka, FL) also posted double-digit kills with 14 and 11, respectively. Miner also led the team with 14 digs.
Mercer was led by Vicky Skundric and Andrea Shipley with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Three Bears also posted double-digit digs.
FAU will travel to Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday for a 1 pm match up with A-Sun rival Georgia State. The Panthers finished second in the conference preseason poll behind UCF.
