TROY, AL - Jelena Jovanovic had 36 assists and 12 digs for her fifth double-double of the season, but the Florida Atlantic volleyball team lost to Troy in straight sets (25-16, 25-22, 25-22) on Saturday.
The Owls (4-10, 0-4 Sun Belt) were outhit in the first set .485 to .188 as the Trojans only committed one attack error on their way to a 25-16 victory.
Set number two was a hotly contested affair that featured 14 ties. The final tie came at 20-20 when Troy (12-7, 3-1) took the next three points to grab a 23-20 lead. Back-to-back kills by Chandler Hatton and Alessia Pizzocheri pulled the Owls back to within one, but back-to-back kills by Breanna Cullity sent FAU to the intermission down two sets to none.
The third set began was deadlocked at 7-7 when Troy went on a run and had a four point lead on four separate occasions. However, the Owls kept fighting and were able to tie the score two more times, at 22-22. The Trojans took the next three points to take the set and match.
