Florida Atlantic University's volleyball team pulled out a five-game win over the University of New Orleans on Monday night in Sun Belt Conference action. The Owls recorded a season-high 17 blocks in the 24-30, 30-28, 27-30, 30-27, 15-13 victory.
FAU (5-8, 2-1 Sun Belt) took the match in dramatic fashion. The team trailed 10-4 in game five before the Owls rattled off the next seven points behind the serving of Nikki Hartman. Kaila Janssen started the run with three straight kills and finished the night with a career-high 16 kills. The two teams tied the game at 13 before Janelle Saruaw pounded down the last two points. She placed an exclamation point on the match as she drilled the ball down the line from the outside to win the match.
Janssen added her second double-double of the season with a team-high 16 digs, while Sarauw led the team with 24 kills followed by Iana Andonova's 21. Justine Petry, Katie Arvidson and Sarauw had a big night at the net for FAU and collected six blocks each.
The Owls return to action this Friday and Saturday when they head to Alabama to play Troy University and the University of South Alabama in conference play.
