Florida Atlantic University's volleyball team defeated Morgan State University 3-0 Friday evening in the UNCG Tournament. On the day the team split after dropping the first match 3-1 to Memphis. Iana Andonova, Cayse Kaveny and Kelly Paiva continue to carry the offensive load for the Owls.
All three players finished with double-digit kills for the second time on Friday. Middle blockers Andonova (Margate, FL) and Kaveny (Cupertino, CA) lead with 17 and 15 kills, respectively, while Paiva (Minas Gerais, Brazil) followed with 12.
FAU (7-2) quickly disposed of the Bears 30-18 in game one before Morgan State (7-10) put up a fight in games two and three for final scores of 31-29 and 30-27. The Bears' offense was spread out evenly among five players but the FAU offense used eight blocks and 54 digs to stymie its opponent.
Paiva finished with five blocks at the net, while Lindsey Bell and Marka Condill led the team in the backrow.
FAU will close out the tournament on Saturday with matches against UNC Asheville and UNC Greensboro at noon and 7:30 pm.
