A three-game sweep of Wofford gave Florida Atlantic University's volleyball team its second win of the season. The two teams met in the first round of the Coastal Carolina Classic and FAU disposed of the Lady Terriers 30-25, 30-20, 30-22 to improve to 2-6, while Wofford falls to 3-2.
FAU collected a season-high 10 blocks in the three game match. Middle hitter, Cayse Kaveny (Cupertino, CA) led the way with a career-high five blocks as six Owls recorded more than one block in the match.
The offense also played well as the team recorded a .247 hitting percentage, the second highest of the season. Abby Miner (Largo, FL) and Iana Andonova (Margate, FL) led the way with 11 and 10 kills, respectively.
The Owls were able to put the ball away, but the Lady Terriers found the FAU defense to be tough as Florida Atlantic out-dug Wofford 38-26 to dominate play. Also costly for the Lady Terriers were 13 service errors that gave their opponents a free opponent in rally scoring.
FAU will return to Kimbel Arena to play Clemson and Coastal Carolina tomorrow in the Coastal Carolina Classic at 10 am and 4 pm.
