BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic sand volleyball team defeated College of Charleston 3-2 for its first dual match victory of the spring.
Joanne Marras Tate and Alessia Pizzocheri won their match at no. 1 in straight sets (21-13, 21-15) over Elyse Chubb and Lizzie Theesfeld. Grace Vega and Darija Sataric defeated Kelly Kolich and Emily Shelton 21-17, 20-22 and 15-11 at no. 2.
FAU's lead was cut to 2-1 when the no. 3 pairing of Isabelle Arboleda and Sara Stoll lost to Kerstin Koehler and Andi Zbajniemicz (21-11, 21-7). The Owls' no. 4 squad of Lauren Jones and Chandler Hatton lost in three sets (17-21, 21-8, 15-12) to tie the match at 2.
Thacilli Pereira and Cintia Nightingale won in straight sets (21-14, 21-13) in the decisive match.
