BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic volleyball team lost a sand dual match to Jacksonville 3-2 on Thursday at the Dolphin Beach Volleyball Complex.

The Owls' tandem of Joanne Marras Tate and Alessia Pizzocheri outlasted JU's tandem in three sets. Tate and Pizzocheri won the first set, lost the second, then held off a late Dolphin rally to win the third set 15-13. Darija Sataric and Lauren Jones were swept on the no. 2 court.

Grace Vega and Isabelle Arboleda won their match in three sets at no. 3 to give FAU a 2-1 lead. The Dolphins won the no. 4 match in straight sets to tie the score at two matches each. That brought the match down to the match on no. 5 between Jacksonville's Jenna Orner and Alison Loeppky and Thacilli Pereira and Cintia Nightingale of FAU. JU was able to win in straight sets to take the match.

The Owls will remain in Jacksonville to play in the North Florida Tournament this weekend.
