BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University’s women’s tennis team has been awarded the NCAA Public Recognition Award.  The Public Recognition Award is presented to teams in Division I sports with high Academic Progress Rates.  Florida Atlantic’s women’s tennis team was in the top 10 percent of 322 women’s tennis teams in the country.

            The Academic Progress Rate is designed to keep Division I institutions accountable for student-athletes academic progress.  The metric is calculated by giving athletic teams points for the number of student-athletes that remained in enrolled at the university and the number of student-athletes eligible to participate in their sport.

            Florida Atlantic’s women’s tennis team next takes the court January, 18 2014 in Fort Myers in the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational Tournament.  The first home match is scheduled for January, 25 against Louisiana Tech.
