"When I met Aliona, she had no idea what her ranking was when I asked her and she didn't seem to care,” FAU Head Coach Marcy Hora-Cava said. “Aliona just wanted to get back out on the court to practice and told me that she doesn't worry about that kind of stuff.
"I could give Aliona a wooden racket to play a match with and she wouldn't complain, she is a true competitor. Those are hard to come by.
"I can't predict her future but I do know that Aliona is a fighter, modest and I'm honored to be her coach and have her representing the FAU tennis team. Aliona is bright beyond her years because she is opening so many doors for herself academically and athletically. Whether its success in the classroom or as a professional athlete, there is no way to know but she knows the coaching staff and her team are behind her 100 percent."
