Jacksonville, FL - Florida Atlantic University's women's tennis team opened fall play Friday at the Hasting's Memorial/JU Invitational, in Jacksonville, FL. Three women received byes in the first round, including no. 47 Alena Dvorakova. Dvorakova was joined by Pepperdine transfer Veronika Koksova in the "Flight A" bracket. Both, Dvorakova and Koksova, breezed through a second round match following a bye.
Krystel Borg followed suit in "Flight B" defeating Jacksonville's Kim Puck, 6-2, 6-0, in the second round. All three, Borg, Dvorakova, and Koksova, will resume play Saturday on the winner side of their respective bracket.
Senior Tania Rivera notched a first round victory in "Flight B," before withdrawing from the tournament in the second round.
In doubles, Rivera and Borg combined to win, 8-1, in "Flight A," and Oldock teamed with Stephanie Beaulieu for victory in "Flight B".
Play will resume Saturday and the tournament will conclude Sunday, October 12.
