Boca Raton, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team extended its winning ways with a 5-2 victory over Towson University on Wednesday afternoon at Patch Reef Park in Boca Raton. The Owls have won nine of their last 10 matches to improve to 11-10 on the season - getting above the .500 mark for the first time this spring.

FAU rallied to capture the lone double point by winning at the No. 2 and No. 3 matches. Leading the charge was the duo of junior Justine Humair and sophomore Marlene Ryan, with an 8-4 triumph at No. 2 doubles. The tandem of junior Cassie Bergeson and sophomore Natasha Phillips earned an 8-6 win to give the Owls the early momentum.

The strong play continued in singles matches as the Owls won the opening set in four of the six matches, including a pair at 6-0 decisions.

Humair was one player who dominated the opening set on the way to a victory at No. 1 singles (6-0, 6-2) - her 12th on the season, eighth in the last 10 matches and improved her record to 11-9 in matches played in the top singles position.

Sophomore Natasha Basma won her 10th match of the season with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the No. 3 position.

Senior Virginia Augustin clinched the team victory with a straight-set 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles, and junior Erika Mrazkova rounded out the victors with a come-from-behind triumph at No. 6 singles. She forced a third-set tiebreaker by winning the second set 6-3. Mrazkova then pulled out the tiebreaker, winning 10-8 for her third win this season at No. 6 singles.
