Boca Raton, FL - Singles victories by senior Justine Humair and junior Natasha Phillips highlighted the Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team in a 5-2 home loss to FIU on Wednesday at Patch Reef Park in Boca Raton. The loss drops the Owls to 9-5 on the season.

Humair picked up a straight-set victory (6-2, 6-4) at No. 1 singles to even her record to 7-7 on the season. She has won three consecutive victories.

Phillips' opponent retired after trailing to the Boca Raton native in the No. 6 singles match.

Senior Cassie Bergeson suffered a hard-fought, three-set setback at No. 4 singles. She forced a third set with a 6-4 triumph in the second set. Bergeson dropped the third frame by a 6-2 score.

FAU returns to the court on Friday, March 23, at 2 p.m. against Sun Belt Conference foe University of Denver from Patch Reef Park, 2000 West Yamato Road in Boca Raton.
