Sophomore Natalia Tomaszewicz went a combined 3-0 in Saturday's two matches against Florida A&M and Hampton

Daytona Beach, FL - The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis evened its spring record to 3-3 after posting a pair of victories on Saturday, February 16, in Daytona Beach. The Owls defeated Florida A&M University, 6-1, before picking up a 5-1 triumph over Hampton University.
In the first match, the FAU won the doubles point against Florida A&M when the sophomore duo of Catalina Ene and Natalia Tomaszewicz won a tiebreaker 7-5 in the No. 3 match. The team of sophomore Taylor Briggs and freshman Claire-Mitchell Andrews won 8-3 to have the other doubles victory for the team.
In singles, Tomaszewicz gave FAU a 2-0 advantage with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph in the No. 4 match. Then, at No. 3, senior Natasha Basma defeated Florida A&M's Symone Townsend 6-3, 6-1 and Briggs clinched the match with a stretch set 6-2, 6-2 win in the No. 5 match.
Rounding out the winners against Florida A&M were senior Marlene Ryan by 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (5) scores at No. 1 and Ene by 6-3, 6-3 scores at the No. 2 position.
Against Hampton, the Owls won on five of the six singles courts to conclude the weekend's action. Ryan and Basma did not drop a game in earning victories in the No. 1 and No. 3 matches. Ene and Tomaszewicz were also dominant in earning 6-1, 6-0 triumphs at the No. 2 and No. 4 spots, respectively. Briggs rounded out the winners with a 6-0, 6-3 victory in the No. 5 match.
FAU returns to the court on Wednesday, February 20 at 1 p.m. when it hosts Oakland University from Patch Reef Park in Boca Raton.
