BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University notched its first victory of the year Saturday morning against Bethune-Cookman College by score of 6-1, in Boca Raton. With the win, no. 68 FAU moves to 1-2 on the year. The Lady Owls only dropped one set, and a tie-breaker on way to victory.

FAU swept the doubles matches with the closest match coming at no. 2. Veronika Koksova and Tania Rivera held on to defeat Valerie Kendrick and Lucia Polakova 8-6. Koksova went on to win her doubles match 6-1, 6-3 at no. 4.

Alena Dvorakova, the nation's 47th ranked player, had little trouble in the top spot. The junior won her match at no. 1, 6-1, 6-2, against Zora Gyoreova.

Stephanie Beaulieu and Krystel Borg also made quick work of their opponents at no. 5 and 6, respectively. Beaulieu dropped Jennifer Nelson, 6-1, 6-3, and Borg finished off Elise Marshall, 6-1, 6-0.

Senior Karolina Roubickova won her match at no. 2, 7-6, 6-1.

The Lady Owls next host Northwood at 11:00 am February 14.
