Women's Tennis Continues Success in Home Tourney

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team rolled through the second day of its home tournament, winning seven more events at the FAU Hidden Dual on Saturday.

  • The Owls squared off against Miami University in doubles action, where Aliona Bolsova and Jemi Aguilar topped Anastasia Visukhin and Nelli Ponomareva 6-3 to start the day
  • In singles action, Kristen Thoms quickly handled business against Maria Ribiero of Stony Brook, winning 6-1, 6-0
  • No. 2 Bolsova downed Elizabeth Tsvetkov 6-1, 6-4 while Natalia Boltinskaya beat Ester Chikvashvili by the same score
  • Marisa Ruiz upended Amanda Foo 7-5, 6-3 and Jemi Aguilar beat AnneKathrin Hierl 6-4, 7-6
  • Jennifer Leib rounded out the FAU victories with a 6-1, 6-1 thrashing of Miami's Janelle Ghanem
  • JaCara Gillis suffered a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 loss to Ana Rodriguez and Miami's Melati Devi beat Naiya Oden 6-2, 3-6, 10-2
FAU will conclude the tournament Sunday, facing Georgia Southern in doubles at 8 a.m., followed by singles matches against Miami. Admission is free at the FAU Tennis Complex.
