Women's Tennis Earns Seven Wins to Open Hidden Dual

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team picked up five singles wins and two doubles victories on the first day of the FAU Hidden Dual - the first tournament to be held at the FAU Tennis Complex.

  • The Owls took on Stony Brook in doubles play to open the morning, with Aliona Bolsova and Jemi Aguilar beating Ester Chikvashvili adn Maria Ribiero 6-0
  • JaCara Gillis and Jennifer Leib teamed up to bet Ana Rodriguez and Nowlenn Cardoso 6-4
  • No. 2 Bolsova breezed through the first singles match, beating Georgia Southern's Arianne de Winter 6-2, 6-0
  • Natalia Boltinskaya followed suit with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Emilia Bujan
  • Kristen Thoms knocked off Ella Monsey 6-2, 7-5 before Gillis won 6-1, 6-1 and Naiya Oden won 6-4, 6-4
  • Marisa Ruiz and Jennifer Leib were tagged with singles losses on the day
Play continues at the FAU Hidden Dual Saturday, Jan. 20 at 8 a.m. as FAU faces Miami (Ohio) in doubles, followed by a face off with Stony Brook in singles play. Admission is free at the FAU Tennis Complex.
