       RICHMOND, Va. - Four newcomers paved the way for the Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team to beat VCU 5-2 on Sunday, avenging a 2017 loss to the Rams.

  • Natalia Boltinskaya and Marisa Ruiz started the match with a 6-3 doubles victory
  • After VCU won the No. 2 doubles, Aliona Bolsova and Jemi Aguilar topped Anna Rasmussen and Melissa Ifidzhen in the No. 1 spot 7-5 to earn the point for the Owls
  • 2 ranked Bolsova took down Rasmussen again to kick off singles play with a 6-2, 6-0 victory
  • Naiya Oden fell 6-2, 6-2 as VCU's Marina Alcaide got the Rams on the board
  • JaCara Gillis dominated Noumea Witmus 6-1, 6-1 to extend the FAU advantage to 3-1
  • Kristen Thomas then battled to a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win over Ifidzhen in the No. 3 slot to clinch the match
  • Boltinskaya won her No. 2 singles contest 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 before Ruiz fell 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 to Kanako Yano
