Boca Raton, FL - The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team opened the spring season with a 7-0 loss to No. 9-ranked University of Miami on Friday at Patch Reef Park in Boca Raton.

Senior Marlene Ryan dropped a hard-fought match (6-2, 6-4) to nationally ranked Lina Lileikite at No. 1 singles. Ryan posted 10 match victories last season.

At No. 2 singles, sophomore Catalina Ene fell in straight sets to No. 57-ranked singles player Kelsey Laurente.

The Owls return to the court on February 2 when they host UCF at Patch Reef Park, 2000 Yamato Road in Boca Raton.
