Boca Raton, Fla. - The awards continue to pile up for Florida Atlantic University's standout sophomore Eszter Bucz. The latest honor is the Sun Belt Conference's Female Swimmer of the Week Award, announced by the league office. This marks the fourth time that she has received the league's weekly honor.
Bucz, a Hungary native, has picked up where her freshman season ended - by winning multiple events in dominating fashion. She has won her last seven individual events, including six victories during the Owls' opening home meets against in-state competition. Against Florida State University and Florida International University, Bucz led from start to finish in the 500-yard freestyle, winning by an impressive six seconds (4:59.31); won the 400-yard individual medley, by a seven-second margin (4:59.31); and placed first in 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.54).
The following day, Bucz showcased her versatility by winning three other events in a dual meet against Florida Gulf Coast University. She earned first-place honors in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:25.65), 200-yard breaststroke (2:23.09) and 200-yard individual medley (2:10.21).
FAU returns to the pool on Saturday, October 23 when it travels to Atlanta, Georgia for a triangular meet against Sun Belt Conference opponent Western Kentucky University and Georgia Tech.
