Traveling to two separate meets over the weekend, the Florida Atlantic women's swimming and diving team fell on the road in both.
On Friday, against Florida State in Tallahassee, they were outscored 127-96. In Gainesville on Saturday, taking on Florida, it was a 159-115 loss.
The team picked up one individual victory on the weekend, on Friday in the 200-yard butterfly, where freshman Anett Kovacs finished first in a time of 2:03.97.
Also on Friday, Iwona Lefanowicz had a second- and third-place finish in two different events. The freshman was runner-up in the 400-yard IM (4:29.32) and third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.57). Adding third-place finishes were Jonna Nyback, in the 50-yard freestyle (25.24), and Elizabeth Starke, in the 200-yard butterfly (2:08.91).
For the women on Saturday, Lefanowicz was the only top-three finisher, with two third's, in the 100-yard backstroke (57.59) and in the 200-yard backstroke (2:03.10).
The team takes a small break before getting back in action on January 28th. It will be another road meet, this time in Fort Pierce against Indian River Community College.
