DAVIE, FL – The Florida Atlantic women’s swimming team each picked up two wins during Tuesday’s meet held at Nova Southeastern.

The team had dominant wins over both Nova (126-78.5) and Indiana University of Pennsylvania (160-45), but fell to Western Kentucky, 127-75.

Anett Kovacs picked up the squad’s only individual victory on the day, finishing first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:59.43. The freshman also had two third-place finishes, in the 200-yard free (1:55.64) and 100-yard butterfly (58.93).

The 400-yard freestyle relay squad, comprised of Elizabeth Starke, Jordan Rebecca Richardson, Natalie Campillo and Frida Nilsson, came up big in the final event of the day, winning by nearly four full seconds (3:40.78).

Senior Erin Hersey also had a solid meet for the women, placing in three events. She was second in the 100-yard butterfly (57.72), third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.03), and teamed with Iwona Lefanowicz, Nilsson and Jonna Nyback to finish as runners-up in the 400-yard medley relay.

Besides that relay finish, Lefanowicz also had a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (57.82) and was third in the 400-yard individual medley (4:32.49).

The women’s team will be on the road twice more this week, on Friday at Tallahassee against Florida State, and on Saturday at Gainesville against Florida.
