BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team will read to students at A.D. Henderson Elementary School as part of a program to promote literacy.

Members of the FAU volleyball team, along with the coaching staff will read a book to the students. That will be followed by a discussion with each class stressing the importance of reading, academic achievement, making good decisions, staying off drugs and how to resist peer pressure. Each student will also receive a free book at the end of the day to let them practice reading on their own.

The event is sponsored by the 2nd and 7 Foundation, which was started by former Ohio State University football players Mike Vrabel, Luke Fickell and Ryan Miller. The purpose of the foundation is to promote literacy and provide positive role models to young children. FAU is one of six additional schools that have adopted the program nationwide.
