BOCA RATON, Fla. - The 15th ranked Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball team will host the Burrow Beach Bash this Friday and Saturday, March 9 and 10, at the FAU Beach Volleyball Courts. The Sandy Owls will play Webber International and Houston Baptist at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., respectively, on Friday. On Saturday, FAU will face off against in-state rival Florida Gulf Coast at 1 p.m., before playing Georgia State at 5 p.m. In addition to the matches, there will be food trucks, music, giveaways and more.
Last Week: The Sandy Owls (4-4) won three of their four matches at the UNF Beach Invitational, including a 4-1 victory over no. 6 LSU. FAU is ranked No. 15 in this week’s American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll.
History: After losing its first two matches against Webber International, FAU has won the last four encounters. FAU and Houston Baptist met for the first time ever last season, with the Sandy Owls winning 4-1. FAU and FGCU have played each other six times entering this weekend, with FAU holding a 5-1 lead. Georgia State leads the all-time series over the Sandy Owls 5-3.
