BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University shortstop Emily Lochten was taken by the E1 Pro Ballers in the eighth round of the inaugural American Softball Association (ASBA) draft on Wednesday night.
Lochten played an integral part on the Owls softball team, leading them to a 30-26 record and the Conference USA regular season title this year. The Lake Worth, Florida native led the Owls in numerous offensive categories this past season, including home runs (14) and runs scored (59), a program single-season record. She is already the program’s all-time leader in career stolen bases (130). At the conclusion of the season, Lochten was named the to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-South Region first team and All-Conference USA first team.
In her time as an Owl, Lochten was a three-time First Team All C-USA selection, and became just the third player in program history. She ended her career as the school’s all-time leader in career slugging percentage, on-base percentage, runs and doubles. Lochten helped the Owls to two NCAA Regionals, two C-USA regular season titles and a C-USA tournament title.
The ASBA will begin its initial season on June 15.
