Fawbush also earned honors as Sun Belt Conference pitcher of the week

BOCA RATON, FL - Standout performances throughout the weekend's baseball and softball tournaments have earned freshman Brendon Sanger and senior Taylor Fawbush Florida Atlantic University's student-athlete of the week honors.
Sanger had the game-winning hit in Sunday's series-deciding game at Arkansas State. The freshman batted .444 (4-for-9) in the series. Sanger led the team with three runs scored and drove in two runs in starting all three games.
The Fort Myers native also drew four walks and stole a base. He scored a run in the seventh inning to give FAU a 2-1 lead over Arkansas State. Later, he drove in sophomore Mitch Morales in the eighth inning to break a 2-2 tie. For the season, Sanger is hitting .444 with 10 runs scored and seven RBI.
Florida Atlantic's baseball team with play at the University of Miami, on Wednesday, March 27, before hosting a three-game series against South Alabama at FAU on Friday, March 29-31.
Fawbush went 5-0 in the circle this week, pitching three innings in the team's 13-2 5 inning win over Middle Tennessee on Tuesday. She returned the following day to pitch 5 innings in relief of Paige Pender to pick up the win and clinch the series sweep of the Blue Raiders. On Friday, she returned to the circle and pitched her second career no-hitter in an 8-0 win over Bethune Cookman.
Fawbush ended the week on Sunday by pitching a complete game in the Owls' 2-1 nine inning win over Dartmouth and in the following game, came on to pitch three more innings in relief to notch her fifth win of the week in a 5-3 triumph over Elon. For the week, she pitched 26 innings, allowed only one earned run and had a 0.27 ERA. Fawbush also earned honors today as Sun Belt Conference pitcher of the week.
The softball team will host a three-game series against North Texas starting with the first game on Tuesday, March 26 at 6 p.m. and a double header on Wednesday, March 27 at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
