BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University junior Tatum Buckley has been named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week. It's the first time in her career that she has won the award.

A NFCA All-Region selection as a utility player last season who has seen action all over the infield of the Owls, Buckley continued to show off her versatility last week. Stepping into a greater role as part of the FAU pitching staff, on Tuesday night, Buckley threw 2.1 innings of scoreless relief against Fordham, then threw a complete game four-hitter in a 2-1 win over Illinois State that same day.

On Saturday, she tossed another complete game, giving up just three hits against WKU while recording a career-high eight strikeouts. On Sunday, Buckley tossed her third complete game of the week, allowing just three hits in a 4-1 of WKU.  The victory completed a series sweep of the Hilltoppers and gave head coach Joan Joyce her 900th career win.  For the week, Buckley went 3-0 with 21 strikeouts and a 1.20 ERA in 23.1 innings pitched.

The Owls open their Conference USA home schedule with a three-game set against Charlotte this weekend. The series begins with a doubleheader at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Live stats will be available at FAUsports.com and live updates will be posted to Twitter via the team's official account, @fauowlssoftball.
