BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's softball team will face-off against the local Marines in a charity softball game on Sunday, April 15 at 6 p.m., at the FAU softball complex on the Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus.
The event will be held in an effort to raise awareness and support and the Semper Fi Fund's local injured service member and their families as well as the local "Marine Birthday Ball" committee. Special guests will include members of the Marines, as well as Joan Joyce, FAU head softball coach and 10-time Hall of Fame member. Marine team members Wes Kain and "Handsome" Dan, both members of the Vanilla Ice Project and Toys for Tots supporters, also will be on hand.
Tickets are $5 per person for the general public and $4 for FAU students. The game will also be used to raise awareness of Veteran Owls, an on-campus organization that helps FAU students that have served in the armed forces adjust to campus life. Proceeds and donations from the game will benefit Semper Fi Fund.
