BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University softball team will begin its Sun Belt Conference schedule against Western Kentucky, beginning on Wednesday night.

The Owls (6-13) begin their conference schedule with the Hilltoppers (13-5) with a doubleheader starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday. FAU took two of three from WKU last season in Bowling Green. Carly Speerin hit 4-of-9 (.444) in the series. The two teams will finish the series with a single game, at 6 p.m. on Thursday.

FAU will then host WKU, Bethune-Cookman University, Boston College, the University of Minnesota and Providence College in the Embassy Suites Classic, starting on Friday. The Owls will Bethune-Cookman in their first game at 6 p.m. on Friday night. The Wildcats defeated FAU 12-10 at the NTC Elite Invitational earlier this season.

Boston College will be the second opponent for FAU on Friday night. The Golden Eagles won three of their five games at last weekend USF Under Armour Invitational in Tampa. Providence College (2-6) makes its annual trip to Boca Raton after losing to two of three games at the Towson Series in Baltimore. The Friars will play FAU at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers (14-4) will play the Owls at 8 p.m. Minnesota won four of its five games last weekend at a tournament hosted by the University of Georgia. FAU will finish up the tournament with a rematch against Providence at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
