BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University softball team returns home to its 12th annual Strike Out Cancer Tournament this weekend. The Owls will play (RV) Texas State and Columbia on Friday, Dartmouth and UIC on Saturday, and then conclude the weekend against Tulsa on Sunday. The Owls will wear pink uniforms for Sunday's contest.
Last Week: The Owls went 2-3 at the Michelle Smith Pediatric Cancer Tournament last weekend. One of the wins was over then-No. 10 ranked Tennessee. Former Volunteer Kelsey Morrison hit her first career home run in the victory. Madisyn Palmer also hit her first career home run, hers was a grand slam, over the weekend.
History: Friday's tilt with Texas State will be the first encounter between the two teams. FAU has a 2-0 all-time series lead over both Columbia and Dartmouth. The Owls have played UIC on nine previous occasions, with the Flames winning five. Tulsa and FAU have met in each of the last four seasons, and eight times overall, with the Owls holding a 6-2 advantage.
