TOURNAMENT CENTRAL

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University softball team will host its eighth annual Strike Out Cancer Tournament this weekend.

FAU went 3-2 at the season-opening FAU Kick-Off Classic. Those three wins came against then-no. 18 ranked Louisville, fellow Conference USA member Tulsa, and Ohio State.

This weekend's tournament will also serve as a fundraiser for cancer research. All those in attendance can make donations.

Florida Atlantic University's softball team hosted the second day of their Strike Out Cancer Tournament on Saturday and finished the evening competing against University of North Florida and Providence College.

Softball Defeats Loyola, Edges South Carolina 1-0
The Florida Atlantic softball team beat Loyola 5-1 before defeating South Carolina 1-0 in a thrilling nine inning win on Sunday. The Owls (6-7) defeated Loyola 5-1 in a game that was suspended due to rain on Saturday. Action resumed with the score tied at one in the bottom of the fifth inning. FAU scored four runs in that inning, all coming on Kirstin Austin's grand slam homerun. Taylor Fawbush retired the last six Rambler batters in order to finish her complete game.

The Owls (3-2) will host Mississippi State in a doubleheader on Thursday night before hosting Providence and UMass on Saturday night. FAU will wrap up action in the tournament by taking on South Carolina on Sunday.
