BOCA RATON, FL - Jordan Stovall went 1-for-3 and scored the only run for the Owls in the Florida Atlantic softball team's 7-1 loss to Louisiana-Lafayette.
The game was a scoreless tie until the bottom of the third inning. The Ragin' Cajuns (47-3) had their first two runners reach on a double and a single to lead off the inning. Diandra Fernandez cut down a runner at third for the first out of the inning. After a successful double steal, Taylor Fawbush struck out the next ULL batter for out number two. However, Nerissa Myers stroked a double to put ULL ahead 2-0.
The Ragin' Cajuns scored two more two-out runs in the fourth on back-to-back hits. ULL's final runs of the game came in the sixth on a three-run homerun by Myers. Stovall laced a double to right center in the seventh before moving to third on a base hit by Stephanie Call. Stovall eventually scored on wild pitch by ULL's Ashley Brignac. Brignac retired the next two batters to end the game.
FAU (15-38) will play no. 4 seed North Texas in a losers' bracket game on Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
