LAFAYETTE, LA - The Florida Atlantic softball team lost both games of a doubleheader to Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday.
Game 1 was delayed two hours due to rain in the area. The no.7 Ragin' Cajuns (40-2, 15-2 Sun Belt) won 21-0 in five innings. A 13 run second inning and an eight run third inning accounted for all the runs in the game. Heather Barneshad both Owl hits in the contest.
FAU (13-31, 3-12 Sun Belt) lost the second game 10-2, again in five innings. ULL scored five runs in the third inning, four of them coming on back-to-back homeruns. The Owls' only runs of the day came in the top of the fourth inning, when Jordan Stovall hit her third homerun of the season. Taylor Fawbush scored on the shot to left center and cut the lead to 5-2.
ULL immediately responded in the bottom of the fourth, scoring four runs to increase the margin to 9-2. After the Owls were retired in order in the top of the fifth, the Ragin' Cajuns scored a run in the fifth to end the game.
